I love this.
I love this.
For some reason I woke up thinking about this this morning. And then I found this too:

Last night I rode a bike with a half a flat tire to catch the CMJ Souls of Mischief, SADAT X, AG show at Southpaw. It was a last minute decision and a good one. I was glad to get a chance to catch up with A-PLUS…. and Snafu.
I was also happy to hear the Souls announce their new album ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’, which is entirely produced by Prince Paul and will be coming out in December.
Shout outs to Gavin and Michelle atAUDIBLE TREATS for putting together a dope show last night.
I really bumped the shit out of King Just’s ‘Mystics of the God’ tape when I was like 15 or 16. From intro to outro. I loved the ‘Pizza man’ skit. I remember being on a family vacation at the Grand Canyon, sitting in the back of the rental, typical teenager style, headphones on blaring this tape, while my parents drove. Rude. That’s why I’m never having kids.
Anyway I tried to find a bio on King Just, but was unable to find anything. When I typed “King Just” into Wikipedia
all I got was this dizzying list of Wu affiliates, which he is not on, but it is definitely worth checking out.
Since 1979 Clayton Patterson has dedicated his life to documenting the final era of raw creativity and lawlessness in New York City’s Lower East Side, a neighborhood famed for art, music and revolutionary minds. Traversing the outside edge he’s recorded a dark and colorful society, from drag to hardcore, heroin, homelessness, political chaos and ultimately gentrification. His odyssey from voyeur to provocateur reveals that it can take losing everything you love to find your own significance.
